About GRIISIQ
Criteria
To join GRIISIQ in any of the following capacities, applicants must meet the following criteria.
Researchers
1. Regular Researcher (at least four years after obtaining Ph.D. or at least 2 years after post-doctorate degree)
Eligibility criteria:
- Be an independent researcher. [1]
- Devote at least 0.5 FTEs [2] to research on a GRIISIQ theme. [3]
- Hold a position at the faculty or school of nursing of any of GRIISIQ's four associated academic institutions. [4]
Maintenance criteria:
- At least one publication/year on a GRIISIQ theme. [3]
- At least one scientific presentation/year on a GRIISIQ theme.
- Participate actively in the work of at least one GRIISIQ research team. [5]
- Assist in organizing at least one GRIISIQ workshop/year.
- Upon request, send GRIISIQ an updated common CV (FRSQ format) and a list of publications and grants, highlighting those related to GRIISIQ themes.
Advantages:
- Priority access to GRIISIQ resources, including statistical/methodological consultations, translation, and assistance in writing. [6]
- Access to pilot- and clinical-research project grant program (competition).
- Access to fellowships and grant programs (competitions) for students under your supervision.
2. Associate Researcher
Eligibility criteria:
- Same as those for "Regular Researcher," except that the number of FTEs required is 0.2.
Maintenance criteria:
- Participate in the work of at least one GRIISIQ research team.
- Participate in least one GRIISIQ workshop/year.
- Upon request, send GRIISIQ an updated common CV (FRSQ format) and a list of publications and grants, highlighting those related to GRIISIQ themes.
Advantages:
- Access to the pilot- or clinical-research project grant program (competition), in cooperation with a GRIISIQ regular or emerging researcher acting as (co-) principal investigator.
3. Adjunct Researcher
Eligibility criteria:
- Be an expert researcher specializing in a GRIISIQ-related theme or field relevant to GRIISIQ objectives.
- Be interested in contributing to GRIISIQ by getting involved as co-investigator in a GRIISIQ-funded project or acting as a consultant to enhance the Group's scientific productivity (e.g.: by working on one of GRIISIQ's research teams).
Maintenance criteria:
- Give a training workshop for GRIISIQ members once every three years.
- Apply for funding to conduct a pilot project with a regular GRIISIQ member once every three years, or publish in cooperation with a GRIISIQ research team once every three years.
- Contribute to GRIISIQ's development as mentioned above for one year after becoming a member, and continue to meet membership criteria.
Students
1. Student Fellow or Grant Recipient
Eligibility criteria:
- Be enrolled full-time in a graduate or post-graduate nursing program at the faculty or school of nursing at any of GRIISIQ's four associated universities.
- Be supervised or co-supervised by a regular or emerging GRIISIQ researcher.
- Develop a research project on a GRIISIQ theme.
Maintenance criteria:
- Participate in at least 50% of GRIISIQ scientific activities intended for students.
- Participate actively in the work of at least one GRIISIQ research team.
- Present your student project at a student seminar or other GRIISIQ activity. [7]
- Abide by the rules presented in the Formal Agreement governing the fellowship/grant in question.
Advantages:
- Access to GRIISIQ resources, including statistical/methodological consultations, translation, and assistance in writing. [8]
- Access to ad hoc travel grants (competitions).
2. Regular Student
Eligibility criteria:
- Be enrolled full-time in a graduate or post-graduate nursing program at the faculty or school of nursing at any of GRIISIQ's four associated universities.
- Be supervised or co-supervised by a regular or emerging GRIISIQ researcher.
- Develop a research project on a GRIISIQ theme.
Maintenance criteria:
- Participate in GRIISIQ scientific activities intended for students.
- Where required, present your student project at a student seminar or other GRIISIQ activity.
- Access to ad hoc travel grants (competitions).
Clinicians and Clinical Decision Makers
1. Clinician
Eligibility criteria:
- Preferably, hold a Master's degree in nursing, or a Ph.D.
- Work in a clinical setting affiliated with one of GRIISIQ's four associated universities.
- Be referred by a GRIISIQ researcher or clinical decision maker.
- Be interested in a GRIISIQ theme. [3]
Maintenance criteria:
- Participate in scientific activities organized specifically by GRIISIQ for clinicians.
- Organize and participate in activities in your workplace that relate to GRIISIQ themes, [3] and invite GRIISIQ members to attend.
- Collaborate with a GRIISIQ researcher to encourage and facilitate the undertaking of Group research projects and knowledge-transfer activities in your workplace.
Advantages:
- Access to pilot- and clinical-research project funding, in cooperation with a GRIISIQ regular or emerging researcher.
- Access to GRIISIQ resources, including statistical/methodological consultations, translation, and assistance in writing.
- Possible ad hoc funding to attend conferences or specialized training on a GRIISIQ theme.
- Opportunity to join one or more GRIISIQ research teams.
2. Clinical Decision Maker
Eligibility criteria:
- Hold a senior management position in nursing at an institution affiliated with one of GRIISIQ's four associated universities.
- Be interested in a GRIISIQ research theme.
Maintenance criteria:
- Be involved on a consultancy basis in the preliminary phases of developing research projects conducted in your workplace.
- Advocate the importance of GRIISIQ research, and promote the Group's scientific activities among your colleagues and at decision makers' meetings (e.g.: regular meetings of CHUM and MUHC nursing directors).
- Support and facilitate the conduct of GRIISIQ research projects and knowledge-transfer activities in your workplace.
- Facilitate the conduct of joint research projects between the clinical communities of at least two GRIISIQ universities.
Former member
1. Former Member
Eligibility criteria:
- Prior membership in GRIISIQ lasting at least one year.
- Currently hold (or have retired from) a paid nursing position in a clinic or university unaffiliated with the GRIISIQ universities.
- Do not meet the "adjunct researcher" criteria.
- Be interested in a GRIISIQ theme. [3]
Maintenance criteria:
- Participate in at least one GRIISIQ scientific activity/year.
Advantages:
- Recognition of GRIISIQ membership status.
- Access and automatic invitations to GRIISIQ's scientific activities.
(1) In other words, be the recipient of at least one grant as principal researcher at a recognized agency.
[2] Full Time Equivalent (see specific FRSQ-required document for research-group grant applications). In the case at hand, 100% = 1.0 FTE, where the percentage figure in question represents the amount of research time dedicated to nursing-intervention research with clinical outcomes; if all research pertains to this field, the figure may be 100%.
[3] A definition of these terms is contained in a separate document. Involved here are the development, evaluation or refining of nursing interventions leading to clinical outcomes (including the development or fine-tuning of measuring instruments as well as research focusing on intervention feasibility).
[4] These universities are: Montreal, Laval, Shebrooke and McGill.
[5] The four teams work, respectively, on (1) intervention development, (2) intervention evaluation, (3) knowledge transfer and application, and (4) research design.
